Support

Mason Publishing Group manages several platforms and programs and supports specific communities and missions through these programs. UDTS supports graduate degree candidates through review of formatting requirements. MARS supports the university community through acceptance of OA scholarly materials into the university repository.

The George Mason University Press publishes peer-reviewed manuscripts by scholars primarily outside Mason, while the 123 Press publishes book projects for Mason faculty and community, especially in support of teaching and learning.

Our efforts are dedicated toward support of these programs and projects and there is limited capacity for general inquiries about publishing through external publishers and publications. Scholarly publishing is broadly discipline-specific, especially for journals.

For databases listing journals in specific disciplines, see the Libraries’ Research Databases page.

When you’ve identified journals in your field, you can go to the submissions pages of those journals to understand their requirements for transfer of copyright etc.

For general questions about copyright, please consult the Libraries’ Copyright Basics page.

If you have additional questions, you can contact the subject librarian in your field, who can be identified on the Libraries’ staff page.

For questions about APCs and limited funding for publishing open access, see the Libraries’ Open Access Publishing page.
